Corn flour is flour made from corn. It’s finely ground and is floury and not gritty. Corn flour is often confused with corn meal and/or corn starch, but these are very different ingredients. (See explanation below.)

Difference between corn flour and corn meal and corn starch
Corn meal, corn flour, and cornstarch are all made from corn but they are VERY DIFFERENT and have different uses in cooking and baking. Confusing one for the other could completely ruin what you are cooking or baking.
Cornmeal is coarsely ground and is gritty.
Corn starch is a highly refined, white, starchy, chalky powder. It is generally used for thickening.
Corn flour is a flour made from corn that is very finely ground. It is floury and not gritty.
NOTE: These terms are applicable in the United States. In the United Kingdom (and maybe some other countries?) that which Americans call cornstarch is called cornflour.
Is corn flour gluten-free?
Yes, corn flour is naturally gluten-free. If you are very sensitive to gluten, but sure to purchase corn flour that has been ground in a gluten-free facility.
Can you substitute cornmeal, corn flour, and cornstarch?
Cornmeal, corn flour, and cornstarch are very different ingredients and usually cannot be used as substitutes for each other. They each behave differently and will yield different textures, flavors, and consistencies for the finished product.
