Where to buy good coconut

Azure Standard carries unsulphured coconut with a good, fresh coconut flavor. They have medium-fine shred, macaroon-fine shred, and chipped (flaked) coconut.

Different ways to buy coconut

Coconut can be purchased fresh or dried.

The dried form of coconut comes in sweetened or unsweetened and in several different grinds. Depending on the manufacturer, the different grinds go by more than one name which can make finding the correct size a bit confusing.

• Chipped

Chipped coconut is coconut that has been shaved into long, wide strips. It is sometimes also called flaked coconut.

• Shredded (sometimes called flaked)

Shredded coconut is coconut that has been shredded into small, thin strips. This is also sometimes called flaked.

• Desiccated or finely shredded

Finely shredded coconut is coconut that has been shredded into very small pieces, about the size of corn grits or .

• Coconut flour

Coconut flour is coconut that has been finely ground into a meal.
