Take it all home and pick the bugs and rocks out of your rice or sorghum. (No worries though. If you aren’t into bugs and rocks, and you aren’t in the African bush, here’s where I buy my rice or sorghum in the U.S.)

  1. I would love to have your African breakfast, especially the fresh fruit right off the trees. The mangoes from our local store are nothing to be envied for. But I enjoy not having to pick bugs and rocks out of the rice before I cook it. (Are those other things figs?)

      1. I was in South Africa (Pretoria) in 2018. Did not see any of these trees! No gardens even. The ground did not look like it would produce. Where in Africa were you?

        1. I’ve heard South Africa is a beautiful country. But oh, how sad that their were no gardens. I wonder why.
We were in Tanzania. The area where we lived was at a high elevation with a good amount of rainfall for several months of the year, so we saw a lot of gardens and even cultivated a few things ourselves.

  2. Looks like a great breakfast to me. Can’t wait to see you back in MI and hear all about your great adventure!!
